Ross Coates: WSU Fine Arts Faculty Focus Aug. 26-Sept. 25, 2010

Washington State University’s Museum of Art has a standing tradition of presenting work from the Department of Fine Arts faculty. This tradition has seen the presentation of group exhibits over the past 30-plus years. Since 2004, the museum has alternated large group shows with a bi-annual exhibition that showcases the work of an individual faculty member who has recently retired. This year, 2010, the museum is presenting a retrospective exhibition of Ross Coates. He has a long association at the university with both the Department of Fine Arts and the Museum of Art. Now an emeritus faculty member, he came to WSU in 1976 and retired in 2001. Photos taken and video shot June 9, 2010, in Coates's home and studio, Moscow, Idaho.

In photo at top of page, Coates is shown in his Moscow studio with artwork "Kangaroo Island" 2009. 3'x4' oil and photo on plywood.
