New WSC ‘Arch’ Greets Visitors to Campus

Pullman, Wash., Herald – Oct. 18, 1956

OCT. 18 – There is a new look and a new greetings at a new entranceway to the State College of Washington – yet it has elements of the old.

Materials out of the ‘horse-and-buggy’ arch that was erected in 1905 at the Maiden Lane entrance to the campus have been salvaged for this monument designed cooperatively by Phillip Keene and Glenn Wegner, of the college architect’s office.

Inspecting the completion at the intersection of Stadium way and the Moscow highway are Judy Landis, Pullman, president of Spurs; College Architect Keene; E.O. “Pat” Patterson, director of alumni relations.
